In the spring of 2013, I inserted a new project into the ARC242 Building Technology I curriculum. In this project, the second year architecture and interior design students were asked to investigate firms that have been built on a working philosophy of the integration of design and fabrication. After creating a shortlist of three potential firms to study, the students (in pairs) made a final selection and interviewed one or more members of the firm using a set of questions that they were required to generate. The result of this process was a report outlining the firm’s philosophy and the ways in which they work in the architecture and/or construction fields. Below you will find three examples of these final documents.
