ARC242 is the introductory construction course for both the architecture and interior design students in the second year of the program. In this class, the students explore the world of wood light frame construction, the materiality of wood, the use of BIM software in the creation of architecture, and the poetics of construction. The goal is to allow the students to make connections between the conceptualization of and the construction of architecture, the technical and the poetic, through a series of exercises looking at a single family residence at different scales: the whole, the section, and the detail.
